Wait! I want a piece
Mood dominates everything else in Wang Kar Wai’s My Blueberry Nights. The lights, neon ones especially, the glasses, those swirl of colors and not to forget the night is the ambiance. Characters are part of those frames. Singer Norah Jones is Beth, a heartbroken girl who keeps coming back to a diner run by Jeremy (Jude Law). They talk and bond over the course of nights after diner is closed over their personal sorrows and piece of blueberry pie. The love bloomed in those moments between Beth and Jeremy that both felt is never confronted and has to wait till the end of the movie while Beth moves on to next city and next story. One involves a bar where David Strathairn, a cop who drinks every night after duty, coping with his divorce to Rachel Weisz. Last one is about a poker player in Vegas played by Natalia Portman. The beauty of the film is we meet these characters and watch their stories, really feel connected, feel like meeting real people, just like Beth. Eventually will Beth find love in Jeremy who is waiting for her every night smoking reliving that kiss he stole when they met last time?
* Bad **Average *** Good ****Very Good ***** Outstanding
And well, on minor side note My Blueberry Nights features probably the hottest kiss I have ever seen in a movie.
