Argo (2012)

Leave no man behind

Cast:Ben Affleck, John Goodman, Alan Arkin
Director: Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck is one hell of a guy. He is one in the league of making extraordinary mainstream films. Another guy I can think of in same league is Jason Reitman (Thank You for Smoking, Up in the Air). His previous ones are Gone Baby Gone and The Town. Affleck is getting better and better with the craft of the films and Argo is his most assured one. This is one of the tense films I have ever seen. Based on true story, set in Iranian revolution period six Americans escaped the harrowing attack on US embassy by militants took 50 of the staff members as hostage. It’s true story of rescue mission of those 6. The way they did it is borderline ridiculous and miraculous. It comes from the Ben Affleck’s character, a CIA specialist, sets up a fake movie and plan to take escapees out of Iran posing as his film crew members. The movie a nail biter has you in clutches from word go where only relief is provided by fake film setup lead by John Goodman and Alan Arkin.
